ABOUT ME.
My name is Barry Carroll and I am an Irish singer/instrumentalist. I am based in Aberdeen and have been playing music for over 10 years. During this time I have played in many bands which has taken me accross the world. I moved from Edenderry in the Republic of Ireland to Aberdeen in 2014 and have been playing in various venues around Aberdeen since.
During my gigs I play four instruments independently and silmultaneously to give the effect of a full four piece band sound coming from the one man you see on stage. I acheive this by playing acoustic guitar in the conventional way. I use an effect on my guitar which splits the signal into two (1 signal is my acoustic guitar, the other signal is processed to sound like a bass guitar) and that is how I play bass at the same time as acoustic guitar. I then have an electric drum kit sound module that I plug three drum foot pedals into. This allows me to have a full drum kit sound at my feet and thus I have guitar, bass and drums at the same time. To top everything off, while playing acoustic guitar that also sounds like a bass guitar and playing a drum beat with my feet at the same time as singing, I put a harmonica around my neck and add the fourth live instrument to my setup. All this makes it very easy to convince people that theres four of us on stage when its only just me. Just to add a little something extra, I also have a foot switch that I can turn on and off with my heel that processes my voice and adds backing vocals to my sound.
In short, what all this means is that no matter the size, age group or occasion, no gig is too big nor small for my One Lad Band!
